Price is per button for this pair of fabulous celluloid buttons. Each has the likeness of an Arabian sheik affixed to a mottled background. I believe that these were made due to the popularity of the silent movie The Sheik starring Rudolph Valentino, released in 1921. The Sheik movie was extremely popular amongst women and made Rudolph Valentino one of the first sex symbol movie stars. Each button measures 3 1/8 in diameter and has three black pieces affixed to the backside to enable it to be sewn onto a garment. I believe that these was decorative rather than functional. They are both in very good condition with the exception of some wear to the finish on or around the nose of the figure (see last two close-up photos). These would make great brooches, so one would be sufficient, although maybe you could use the pair to some effect.
