Natural Australian opal has been sensitively carved in the image of a woman's or goddess's profile. Examining it closely, the aquiline nose, realistic eye and mouth, luxurious flowing hair, and the addition of a hair ornament or ribbon speak of its quality.

Featuring a section of the opal that gleams with blues and greens, the hair comes to life. The face and neck were chosen from part of the opal that is even in coloration and without additional hues to impart the impression of smooth skin.

The female head was placed amid leaves enriched with lustrous, translucent enamels in sea shell pink, coppery coral, and a range of yellow greens. Typical of the Art Nouveau period, it draws inspiration from nature and is organically lyrical in feel.

Three old European diamonds punctuate the top and above two of the leaves. At the bottom tip, a natural freshwater pearl serves as a pivot point.

The piece was constructed all in 18k yellow gold and with a watch hanger fitting that allows an additional drop to be added. There is a brooch fitting with safety as well.
